C4 chess tournament underway in Lagos

The sixth edition of the CPAN Chevron Chess Challenge will hold from May 17-20, 2018 at the Chevron Recreational Centre, Gbagada, Lagos. The C4 is the flagship tournament of Chess Players Association of Nigeria (CPAN) and usually attracts the very best chess players in the country.

The event is FIDE rated and open to all chess players in Nigeria. Some of the big names in attendance are IM Olape Bunmi, IM Adu Oladapo, IM Balogun Oluwafemi, Osunfuyi Abimbola and FM Kigigha Bomo from Bayelsa State.

Total prize monies close to 400,000 naira expected to be won in all categories with spot prizes for female players.

The month of May appears to be busy for chess players in the country as most will be playing in the MPC chess qualifier in Sapele next weekend to try and secure a spot at the Mindgames Premier Championship Grand Finale event in November.
