SCHEDULE (Subject to adjustment)

Games will start from 13:00 GMT on Saturday and Sunday. However, consideration for a flexible schedule will be given only to participants from Australia and New Zealand should we have a good number of entrants from the region. This schedule is for a 96-player format in each division and could change slightly should we have more players or less.

The event will spread over four (4) weekends starting from March 06, 2021.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

* WESPA/National ratings will be used to group players in the first round.

 

* Playing on mobile device is NOT allowed. All participants must play on PC or desktop to be compliant with the MGI Monitoring System requirements.

 

* Rating cut-off to play in the Premier division will be 1500 WESPA rating points. Players whose rating falls below 1500 can choose to play up if they so wish. Players will NOT be allowed to play down. Tournament organisers will have the prerogative to place non-WESPA rated players in the appropriate division using their national rating.

 

* Will Anderson will continue to support the event by managing live streaming of matches on his Twitch channel - https://www.twitch.tv/wanderer15.

 

* ALL tournament games will be monitored throughout the tournament to mitigate the menace of cheating in online Scrabble play.  Failure to fully comply may lead to match forfeiture or expulsion from the tournament. (Please watch the YouTube video on the MGI Monitoring System to familiarise yourself with the setup)

 

* Depending on the eventual number of registered players, the top 4/8 rated players may be seeded and given automatic qualification to ROUND 2 of the tournament

 

* All registered players are fully responsible for the stability of their internet connection throughout the tournament.  If a player disconnects during a game, their clock will continue to run for the duration that the player is away.

 

* The target number of players for each division is 96.

 

* The tournament organisers reserve the right to refuse entry or eject a player from the tournament on the grounds of poor conduct, non-compliance towards the tournament rules/guidelines or no-shows.

 

* If a player is forced to pull out of the tournament for any reason whilst the tournament is in progress, the player should contact tournament organisers IMMEDIATELY to inform them so that future pairings, standings and any other tournament formats can be adjusted.

* The minimum number of entrants for the event to hold will be 96 for each division.

 

TOURNAMENT GUIDELINES/RULES

  1. Game resignation is +75 to the current score of the winner.
  2. Walkover/Non-appearance is a win +75 spread
  3. The maximum spread would be pegged at +350
  4. Abusive behaviour from participating players towards opponents will NOT be tolerated in any way or form. Evidence of such behaviour could lead to player expulsion from the tournament.

 

MGI MONITORING SYSTEM

The primary goal of this system is to eradicate cheating in online Scrabble tournaments and bring integrity to the game. The MGI Monitoring System has been tested extensively and we have absolute confidence in its efficacy. Scrabble players all over the world can now have confidence in the legitimacy of online tournaments.
